breastfreading

If you spend much time in the blogosphere, you catch on to a universal blogging truth pretty quickly.

Bloggers love comments.

Comments equal love, validation, care, concern, friendship, time well spent.

I know this to be true because I blog. I lovecraveneed comments as much as the next blogger.

I also understand the addendum to the previously stated blogging truth.

You scratch my back, I scratch yours.

Translation: I took the time to hang out at your little piece of the blogosphere by reading and commenting. Why not come on over to my place and return the favor?

If you are guilty of being a comment hog and not reciprocating the love, you could be seen as a bit of cold blogger. Shame, shame.

I get this. I love the comments. I love to reciprocate the love. And I would do so more often, except I have a little problem.

Meet my new laptop accessory, aka "a little problem".

Sure, sure. This 3 month old model is pretty sweet looking, but don't let it fool you. It hardly increases my blog commenting productivity. If anything, it hinders it. And as my laptop accessory grows in size and squirminess, it's becoming increasingly more difficult to even leave simple, little, one-liner comments.

But I'm still reading.

I've been wracking my brain trying to think of some kind of code word I could leave at the end of a post, something to the effect of "Hey! I was here, reading, and catching up with you and I would love to say something witty and sincere but can't since I am currently breast feeding as I read this and by the time I am done either reading or breast feeding I won't remember what wickedly funny or really insightful thing I wanted to say but hey I love you anyway!"

I tried to make an acronym out of it, but HIWHRACUWYAIWLTSSWASBCSIACBFAIRTABTTIADEROBFIWRWWFORITIWTSBHILYA just didn't have much of a ring to it.

Maybe after I read a post I could just type "breastfreading".

Get it?

Breast feeding + reading

Clever, right?

I know! I got lots more where that came from! I'm just not sure how to get it out there with my lap and hands so preoccupied.

Any suggestions???

  3. You are awesome! I was laughing the whole time. I agree with Jodi, you can post that new "word" on my blog!

I think all of us bloggers understand that new mommies barely have time to keep up with their blog reading let alone comment!

  5. You are so witty, you put me to shame! I agree with the rest of the comments. Breastfreading is a great code word!
Heck! I don't even care if you comment. You can just text me and say..."read it, loved it, I'm better for having read it" (or something equally as flattering...and true) and I'll be a happy camper!

  6. Just go with the breastfreading thing. Anyone who reads your blog will get it, and those are the only people we care about anyway...right?

  7. At first I was wondering what all this has to do with breastfeeding. I GOT IT! I had to finish reading...DUH!

Girl, don't worry about commenting. Your family comes first. We know you're busy. Thanks for reading us! WE appreciate it!

    xoxo

  9. Family comes first. Feeding baby comes even before that. We know you. It's good. :)

  10. One-handed typing right now. May I suggest you just say "word" as in - I agree, I sympathize, I hear you. And thank you for being pretty much one of two commenters on my blog. XO

  11. Oh Evelyn, you make me laugh. You could type "breading" in the comments of one blog, copy it, and then just paste it into all the others. That way you only have to press two keys. Simple. Good luck. I remember those days, and how hard it is! I will just assume that you are reading even if you aren't commenting.

  12. I'm the same way! Although I'm not nursing but I am probably helping with violin practice, and math problems, and the baby crawling around. I read and laugh and cry at the blogs I read but the minute I start to type all hell brakes loose!!!

I do love you and I know you love me. and I'll take anything you can type wiht one hand and feet in the way :)

  14. You always seem to get like 3 times as many comments on your blog than I do. Maybe I'm a non-commenter. I probably am.

You know what you could do is click the little like button that people sometimes use at the bottom of their posts.

OR, as a way of showing your love you could share the post on facebook. I'm sure every blogger would love that sort of outward affection.

Your breastfeeding picture makes me want another baby.... so stop it! ;)

  15. LOL, those are good comments! I think us mom's will understand. Luckily mines not breastfeeding so I can pop in the bottle and let her go to town while I check blogs or do other things. Life happens, breastfeeding happens!! Your doing great, I enjoyed your comment yesterday!

  18. That is hilarious! I actually laughed out loud when I read breastreading. I don't know if I would do "breading" as Amy stated above...someone might think you are doing something else while blogging. ;] I like NAK, too. Thanks for the laugh!

  19. I like the new word!!
Truth is I wonder about the whole comment thing, sometimes I read blogs and wonder if I really need to post something. Because sometimes I read and nothing inspires me to say something. I want people to comment mine, but not sure if anybody really reads them anyhow!! LOL!!
