When my great-grandmother was a single young woman, she was a nurse transferring up to Port Angeles, Washington. Her travels were made increasingly difficult as she had become quite ill. By the time she reached her destination she could hardly walk, but still needed to transport her self and her trunk and bags to where she would be boarding.
A handsome young servicemen leaped to her aid, sweeping up her things, and escorting her to her new residence. This gallant handsome hero had made quite the chivalrous impression. He became my great-grandfather some time later.
Back to present day...
Joe and I were talking about our respective family histories. Joe began to comment on how remarkable my great-grandparents' first meeting was. I was surprised it had made such an impression on him and encouraged him to expound on what he meant.
"Well, you know, how she was a nurse and didn't she pass him on an air flight vision test even though he couldn't see very well just because she thought he was handsome? And she accidentally gave him too many shots. And then how they snuck off from a dance to a boat right before he was called to war..."
And then I couldn't hear him anymore because of how long and loud I was laughing.
As wonderful as Joe remembers how my great-grandparents' first meeting went... No, my great-grandparents did NOT meet on the set of the movie, Pearl Harbor.

I was totally laughing too because I KNEW where that had come from! LOL
That is totally awesome!
That is hilarious! And my husband thought I had problems because I'm always dreaming about the movies I watch. I'll tell him this story and he'll realize things could be much worse...
That is SOOO stinkin' funny! Men have great memories.
That is really cute and you guys will laugh about that one for a long time.
LOL! That is great! I thought is sounded familiar!
I love, love, love that movie! I'd totally pretend it was my relatives too! great pictures, by the way. I love those old one.
I love your blog!!! Seriously - It many times makes me laugh until my sides hurt (((( :) )))))
That is hilarious! Totally sums up what men really "listen" to. Your great grandmother is beautiful & the two of them as a couple makes me smile. They just look so happy!
Now I know why everyone remembers the family history just a little (or a lot) differently. They have all been watching different movies!! Loved it!!
HILARIOUS! :)
I think I need to go back and watch that movie again...absolutely none of it sounded familiar to me.
I hope he remembers your anniversary and how you guys met better than he remembered that story!
Or does he make it sound like "Sixteen Candles"?
i started cracking up while i was reading his version, i knew exactly the movie he was "remembering".
Love the gorgeous family photos!
